FEBRUARY 6  

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that her juvenile daughter is having inappropriate contact with a male adult. The reporting party was advised to obtain a harassment order to be served on the male adult.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the individual was contacted and requested no assistance.

REPORT OF FOUND DRUG PARPAHERNAILA: City — reporting party stated that she had located some drug paraphernalia in a local restroom. The item was collected and destroyed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop Antonio C. Edwards age 41 of Ely was arrested for driving without a valid license.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE SEXUAL ASSAULT: City — reporting party stated that her child and another child have been acting out and talking about sex. The reporting party was concerned about the welfare of the children. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE VANDALSIM: Officer received a report of an air conditioner that had been removed from a window on a vacant building. Officer attempted to contact the responsible party for the building, but was unsuccessful. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that he received a phone call from an unknown individual. The caller stated that the government had unclaimed money waiting for him and requested his personal information. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and to discontinue any further communication with the caller.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that her child was having problems with another child at school. Officer documented the incident and advised the reporting party to address the situation with school officials.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that he had been confronted by an unknown person challenging him to fight. The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A JUVENILE: City — reporting party stated that a juvenile had come to her place of work claiming that her family had left her in Ely. Officer investigated the incident and reported that the juvenile was not being truthful. The juvenile actually lives in the Ely area. The juvenile was detained and later released to a family member.

FEBRUARY 7 

REPORT OF A THEFT: Reporting party stated that an individual was stealing power and water from a local utility company. The individual will be issued a citation for the theft when located.

REPORT OF A DEATH: City — officer received a report of an indidvual who had accidently shot himself with a handgun. Officer reported that the indidvual was identified as Damon A. Sealy age 23 of Ely. Sealy was transported to E.R. by ambulance, but died due to injuries he had sustained in the accident. The incident is still under investigation.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that she had received a telephone call from an indidvual claiming to be from a credit company. The caller advised the reporting party that he could provide her a lower interest rate on loans. The reporting party provided the caller with her personal information. The reporting party was advised it was a possible scam and to watch her line of credit and baking account. She was advised not to give her personal information out over the phone.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the individual was contacted and she requested no assistance.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Cesar Zamora of Ely was operating a vehicle exiting a private driveway. He failed to yield to a vehicle being operated by Charles Stones of Ely. Zamora’s vehicle struck stones vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed and Zamora was issued a citation for failure to yield.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — officer located the dog which had returned home.  No other problems were reported.

FEBRAUARY 8  

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A THEFT: Reporting party stated that several individuals came to her home to repair a broken pipe in her bathroom. The reporting party stated that after the individuals had left her home she noticed several items that were missing. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A PARKING PROBLEM: City — officer received a report of a vehicle that was parked in the roadway. Officer contacted the owner of the vehicle who didn’t know why the vehicle was there. The vehicle was removed.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the individual and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — officer received a report of several juveniles who had stolen several items from a local store. The juveniles were contacted along with their guardians. A report will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that her ex-husband was removing some of his property from her home and she didn’t want him there. Officer reported that family members assisted in the move and no other problems were reported.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSATNCES: Officer received a report of an indidvual removing items from a home. Officer contacted the person and reported that he had permission to do so.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Edward Loehr age 40 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSIST: City — officer assisted D.C.F.S. on a home visit. No problems were reported.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Officer received a report of an individual who keeps trespassing on the reporting party’s property. The indidvual will be located and issued a trespass notice.

REPORT OF A FOUND PROPERTY: Officer received a report of a bicycle that had been left near a local business. Officer reported that the bike was left in the area to see if the owner will pick it up.

REPORT OF AN ARERST: City — Officer reported that Devan K. Braden age 26 of Ely was arrested on a 7th Judicial District Court warrant.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Karen Ross age 49 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an indidvual had wondered into their yard and was now refusing to leave. The individual was contacted and advised to leave the area. He complied.

REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the individual and she was taken to E.R. for medical assistance.

FEBRUARY 9  

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual was trying to get a room at a local motel, but he didn’t have the means to pay. Officer contacted the individual and he was trespassed from the motel.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer reported that an individual who had been trespassed from a local business had returned and was causing a disturbance. The individual was located and issued a citation for trespassing.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer assisted hospital staff with a patient that was being uncooperative.

REPORT OF AN AMBULANCE ASSIST: City — officer assisted the Ely ambulance with an individual who was in need of medical attention.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the person and reported that she was fine. No assistance was needed.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE CHILD ABUSE: City — officer investigated the incident and reported it was unfounded.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated that a vehicle had struck her fence. Reporting party had contacted the owner of the vehicle and they were going to pay for the repairs. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A FOUND BICYCLE: The bike was collected and placed into lost and found.

REPORT OF A FOUND ITEM: City — reporting party located a stun gun in an alleyway. The item was collected and placed into lost and found.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that her bicycle had been stolen from her yard. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PARKING PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that several vehicles were parked in front of a fire hydrant. The owners of the vehicles were contacted and they were moved.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: Officer received a report of several juveniles operating a UTV on a county roadway. The parent of the juveniles was contacted and advised of the laws pertaining to UTV operation.

REPORT OF AN AMBULANCE ASSIST: City — officer assisted the Ely ambulance with an individual who needed medical assistance

REPORT OF A BARKING DOG: Officer located the dogs that were barking, but no one was home at the residence. Contact with the owner will be made at a later date.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: City — officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck a power pole. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer made contact with an individual who was pushing snow into the roadway. He was advised to remove the snow from the road and place it elsewhere.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the individual was contacted and requested no assistance.

REPORT OF THREATS: City — reporting party stated that he had gotten into an argument while an individual while removing property from a residence. Both parties involved were contacted and advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A PARKING PROBLEM: Officer contacted the owner of the vehicles and advised her to remove them from the roadway.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: Officer received a report of a vehicle that had almost gotten struck by the train. Officer is attempting to locate the operator of the vehicle.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved and reported that it was only children playing. No problems were located.

REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECT: Officer contacted the person and she denied making any threats to harm herself. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she had borrowed an item from a neighbor and the neighbor came to her house today yelling and causing a disturbance demanding the item back. The parties involved were contacted and advised to stay away from each other.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual was causing a disturbance and had broken a light bulb at a local apartment building. The parties involved were contacted and the investigation continues.

REPORT OF A TRAFFIC HAZARD: Officer received a report of rocks that had fallen into the roadway. The area was patrolled and the officer reported that the rocks had come to the edge of the roadway and had stopped. No other problems were located.

REPORT OF A TRAFFIC HAZARD: Officer received a report of several rocks in the roadway. The rocks were removed.

 REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who gave conflicting statements on what had occurred during the argument and what had taken place. The parties agreed to separate for the day.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop Richard Hill Jr. age 39 of Ely was arrested for driving suspended.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the parties involved who had gotten into an argument as they were separating property. The parties involved gave conflicting statements on what had occurred. The report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

REPORT OF A FOUND BICYCLE: City — officer collected the bike and reported that it had been stolen earlier in the week from a local residence. The bike was returned to its owner.

REPORT OF A 911 HANGUP: Officer contacted the occupant of the home who reported that they had not called 911. No problems were located

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved and reported that Daren W. Brown age 41 of Twin Falls, ID was arrested for obstructing a police officer, domestic battery, and harassment. He is accused of battering a family member and not obeying a police officer’s order. Officers also reported that during the same incident Marianne Harrison age 59 of Ely was arrested for domestic battery. She accused of battering a family member.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the individual was contacted and he stated that he was fine.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved and arrested Laurie Shifflet age 54 of Ely. Shifflet was arrested for domestic battery. She is accused of battering a family member.
