You can take your pick of places for outdoor recreation around Ely, NV. Surrounded by scenic public lands, there are plenty of places to go exploring. Are you having a tough time finding motivation to become more active? Come participate in the many Ely Outdoor Enthusiasts events.

These events are also a great way to meet people. The beginner runner will find several 5k events throughout the year. EOE also offers the Jackalope Running Series that helps runners prepare for the Take it to the Lake 10k. It is a series of five runs that gradually increase in distance every month, starting in April. The experienced runner can challenge themselves at the beautiful Take it to the Lake Half Marathon. Kids are welcome to run at the events too. Take it to the Lake Kid’s Fun Run is a big hit. EOE is a non-profit group whose mission is to encourage people to be active and lead healthy lifestyles through fitness events that raise funds for community-wide wellness while promoting tourism in White Pine County, Nevada. EOE was established in 2012 with just one event, Take it to the Lake Half Marathon. There are now five events which are Take it to the Lake, Bristlecone Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Races, Turkey Vulture Stretch 5K, Color Me Ely 5K, and Ely Neon Lights 5K. The events are organized by a six member committee, who all donate their time to make the events happen. The events bring the community together and promote wellness and a sense of pride. EOE could not exist without local support and sponsors.

Eighty five people attended EOE’s grand marquis event Take it to the Lake this year, making it the largest attended event to date. 86% of the participants were locals and 14% were from other states, coming from as far as Indiana and Colorado.

A big help with advertising came from Facebook, targeting runners in surrounding areas. Take it to the Lake also added a relay option this year. Each year EOE donates a portion of the proceeds, from the events, back to the community.

This year the newly established Ely Boys and Girls Club was the recipient of fitness related supplies. Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you at our 2018 events.
