DECEMBER 25  

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that she believed someone was inside her vehicle. The vehicle was checked and no one was located.

REPORT OF A DEATH: City — Officer reported that Joyce ONeal Johnson age 73 of Ely died at her residence of natural causes.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the children and the parent and reported that they were fine.

DECEMBER 26 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted text messages from an individual. Officer contacted the person sending the text messages and advised her to stop her contact with the reporting party.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSIST: City — officer assisted DCFS on a home visit. No problems were reported.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — officer received a report of a theft of a phone. During the officers investigation the incident was determined to be a civil problem. No theft had occurred.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that someone had placed several crosses on his property. The incident was documented and the crosses were removed.

REPORT OF A PARKING PROBLEM: City — officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and advised her to park her vehicle so it wasn’t blocking several parking spaces. She complied.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Lon S. Jarvis age 48 of Ely was arrested for stop lamps required, DUI, and driving suspended.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC BATTERY: City — officer received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. During the officers investigation Lon S. Jarvis age 48 of Ely was arrested for domestic battery. He is accused of battering his girlfriend.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER: City — officer located the vehicle and contacted the operator. Officer reported that the operator was not intoxicated.

DECEMBER 27  

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer contacted two individuals who had been involved in a fight. Both parties involved were evasive in answering questions about what the fight was about. The parties involved were separated and advised to leave the area.

REPORT OF A DEATH: Officer reported that Lyle O. Lyman age 80 of McGill died at his residence of natural causes.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Officer received a report of an individual who had parked his camper trailer in the middle of a roadway and had taken up residence on BLM property. The individual was contacted and advised to remove his trailer from the area.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: False alarm.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual had come to her home wanting to fight her husband. She stated that her husband was not at home so the individual had left. Officers patrolled the area, but the individual causing the problem was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer checked on the mother and child and reported that they were fine.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an individual had returned to an apartment complex after he had been trespassed from the property. The individual was contacted and the management of the complex trespassed him from the property.

REPORT OF DEBRIS IN THE ROADWAY: The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

REPORT OF UNATTENDED CHILDREN BY A ROADWAY: Officer located the children who stated that they were walking to a family member’s home. The children’s parent was contacted and the children were returned home.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: Officer reported that Camilla S. Berry age 36 of Ely was arrested for driving revoked.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved agreed to separate for the day.

REPORT OF A SEXUAL ASSAULT: City — officer investigated a report of a sexual assault that had occurred in the Ely area. During the offices investigation Seth W. Moore age 20 of Ely was arrested for lewdness with a minor and statutory sexual seduction.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: Officer reported that Jack L. Merrill age 28 of New Meadows, ID was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — the dog was captured and taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE GUN SHOTS: City — the area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

REPORT OF A CHILD CUSTODY PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that his children went to visit their mother for a few days and she was supposed to return them today. The reporting stated that their mother hasn’t showed up for the child exchange. Officer attempted to contact the mother, but was unsuccessful. The incident was documented.

DECEMBER 29 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the manager of a local motel claimed someone was in a room and had not paid.  The room was checked and found to be empty.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City – the manager of a local apartment complex claimed a male subject was trespassing on the property.  Officers arrived and the male left without incident.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed several subjects came to her residence and attempted to start a fight.  During the incident, damage was caused to her home. Contact was made with the subjects involved, one of which admitted to damaging property at the home.  She was issued a citizen’s complaint for injury to property.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claimed someone had used his debit card without his consent.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: A deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as Nathan Daniel Gibson, 36, of Washington.  Gibson was later arrested for driving without a valid license.

REPORT OF A DOG BITE: A child was reportedly bitten by a dog in an adjacent county.   A report was completed and passed on to the agency where the child was bitten.

REPORT OF A TRAFFIC STOP: City – a deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered the minor driver and a minor passenger were in possession of alcohol.  An additional passenger, who was over 18, but under 21, was found to be in possession of marijuana.  The adult was issued a citation and the two minors were released to their parents.  A report was completed and submitted to the DA’s Office for the juveniles.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed a female was harassing her.  Both parties were advised to leave each other alone.

DECEMBER 30 

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – a deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 35 year old Troy Barker, of Ely.  Barker was later arrested for driving under the influence.

REPORT OF A CUSTODY ISSUE: City – the reporting party claimed to have a custody issue with the mother of his children.  Both parties worked the issue out.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed an ex-girlfriend stole some of his property.  The female was contacted and returned the property.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party observed a male take several bags from a residence in which he did not live..  Contact was made with the male and the owner of the residence, who had given the male permission to be there.  Theft unfounded.

REPORT OF A CIVIL ISSUE: City – the reporting party claimed to have gotten kicked out of the residence in which he was staying.  Contact was made with the owner, who claimed the reporting party hadn’t gotten kicked out, but left on his own.  Both parties agreed to work out their differences.

REPORT OF VANDALISM: The reporting party claimed an unknown subject had egged his vehicle.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City – the vehicle was gone when officers arrived.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 27 year old Ely resident Russell Lee Bainbridge was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

DECEMBER 31 

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City – the reporting party complained about a disturbance coming from a neighbor’s residence.  No disturbance could be located.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: The reporting party claimed an unknown subject was trying to break into his residence.  Deputies arrived and found the unknown male was intoxicated and was trying to get into the wrong home.

REPORT OF A THEFT: The reporting party claimed a trailer was stolen from their property sometime within the last two years.  The trailer was located and returned.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 58 year old Ely resident Jose Eddie Morales was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
