Kenneth Hayward Dingey and Britney Tevila Kingston have been named Students of the Month for January, according to Ely Elks Lodge #1469.

Dingey, age 17, is the son of Caralyn Dingey of Ely.

Kingston, age 18, is the daughter of William and Mele Kingston of Ely. Both are Seniors at White Pine High School and will graduate with the Class of 2018.

The Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Elks Lodge in an effort to bring recognition to outstanding students in the area.

Multiple achievement, citizenship, scholarship and leadership are the basis for selection of Students of the Month.

Dingey has been active in golf, is the President of the JAG Club, a tutor and a drama actor. His hobbies are drawing, camping, rock climbing, four wheeling, metal detecting, car memorabilia, recognition of all makes and models, shooting,gun memorabilia, hot wheels and coin collector.

Kingston has played varsity volleyball, basketball and softball four years and is a member of the WPHS Choir with four years in the Honor Choir.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and a basketball state champion and divisional champion in basketball and volleyball for two years. Kingston is a peer leader and is also active in journalism.  She is First team All-Conference and All-State in volleyball for two years, First team All-Conference in softball, Second team All-Conference in basketball, and Honorable mention in volleyball, basketball and softball. She has been given the Journalism award by the Nevada Association of School Boards.  Her hobbies are hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with family.
