The Ely Children’s Community Theater began in 2015 to provide opportunities for students in the county to participate and learn about the performing arts. It was started by Directors Suzanne Calhoun, Amy Sorenson, and Megan Van Tassel through the support of other community organizations, such as Ely Elks Lodge for a performance venue and the Ely UMC for rehearsal venue. The students who participate come from schools all over the county. Student thespians range from pre-school to high school ages. The orchestra pit for musicals is made up of middle school through adult musicians. The past productions have included Treasure Island, The Fable Watch, Into the Woods, and A Dickens Christmas Carol. This year, they are raising funds for the royalties for “Cats” as their spring musical. Pictured above, Robinson Environmental Manager,
