The need for social workers in rural Nevada is great, and becoming qualified to practice social work is possible in your own backyard due to a resource through Great Basin College:  The Social Work 3 + 1 program through Great Basin College and University of Nevada with classes broadcast through interactive video to the GBC campus in Ely as well as online. Accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, this unique 3+1 curriculum combines the strengths of the two oldest higher education institutions in the state of Nevada.

Laura Debenham, LMSW, is the coordinator/instructor of the GBC Social Work Program. She will be at the Ely Center, 2115 Bobcat Drive, on Wednesday, April 4th, from 10 to 11 a.m. to share information about the program and answer questions. This is an ideal opportunity for a student to earn a Bachelor of Social Work right here in rural Nevada where all of the classes are taught online or through interactive video. Refreshments will be served.

An informative social work orientation will also be presented on Tuesday, April 17th at 6 p.m. through interactive video at the Ely Center and all interested students are encouraged to attend.  For more information about either of these presentations, call Veronica at 775-289-3589 or Laura at 775-753-2466.

Great Basin College is a member of the Nevada System of Higher Education and governed by the Board of Regents. The college is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
