My Gun and Me
Ward Lemons, 59 of Las Vegas, Nevada lost his battle with cancer on March 25th 2018.
Ward was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1958 to Foley and Janet Lemons and grew up in Tennessee. Ward joined the Marine Corp at 17, and served honorably as a United States Marine for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Gulf War and served as a Marine Security Guard at American Embassies in Cairo, Paris, and as a detachment commander in Tunisia, Mexico and Panama.
Ward’s legacy of service continued as a police officer for the Palm Springs Police Department and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Ward worked as a Security Police Officer for the Nevada Test Site for many years, and recently worked as a government security Quality Control Manager throughout the western region for Paragon Systems.
Some of Ward’s passions were gun safety education, hunting and fishing. He started his own business My Gun and Me, to educate and train others in firearm safety. He taught many CCW classes in Ely, Nevada and always enjoy hunting and fishing in the area.
Ward was preceded in death by his father, Foley Lemons, and mother, Janet Lemons, his brother Jeff and sister Nancy.
Ward is survived by his wife Lisa, his three children Rachael, Garrett and Sara, his two grandchildren Nathan and Cosette and his sisters Lori and Francis of Tennessee.
A memorial service with military honors followed by a reception will be held at Palms Northwest 6701 N. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131 at 1pm on Saturday April 7th. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Moore’s Cancer Center at the University of California San Diego.
