APRIL 23 

REPORT OF ANIMAL CRUELTY: City – the reporting party claimed a dog owner was neglecting his dog by not providing it water while outside.  Contact was made with the owner, who advised he brings his dog in at night, but said he would make sure the dog was properly cared for.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 34 year old Ely resident Michael Vincent Balistere was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party heard noises outside her residence and believed someone was outside.  The area was checked, but no one was found.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The area was checked, but the vehicle was not in the reported area.

APRIL 24 

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – Nicholas James Clark, age 21, of Ely, was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and was fine.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was not located.

REPORT OF AN INTOXICATED SUBJECT: City – the subject was located walking his dog.  He was warned to stay out of the roadway.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was not located.

REPORT OF A FIGHT: While en route, the reporting party called back and said the subject causing the problems had left and there was no need for law enforcement involvement.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subject was located and was fine.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – a vacant home was checked when a neighbor saw a light on inside.  The home was secure.

 REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: The parties were contacted and said they were just arguing.  The parties separated for the night.

REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED: City – the area was checked, but nothing suspicious was found.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – Amanda Pirnar, of Ely, was driving when she reached for her phone and struck a parked vehicle.  Pirnar was issued a citation for the accident.

APRIL 25  

REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED: City — officer patrolled the area and reported that the noise was a backfire from a vehicle being operated in the area.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City— officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and advised him of the complaint. He was issued a warning.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual laying in an alleyway. Officer contacted the person who stated that he got tired and laid down to rest. He was advised to leave the area.

REPORT OF A VEHICLE FIRE: Officer received a report of a vehicle fire. Officer contacted the reporting party who stated that he was welding on the vehicle when it caught fire. The reporting party was able to get the fire out. The Fire Department arrived on scene and inspected the vehicle for any further problems.

REPORT OF A VIOLATION OF A COURT ORDER: City — officer investigated the incident and reported that no violation had occurred.

REPORT OF A THREAT: City — reporting party stated that an individual had made a threat towards him and he wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that she received a report from and individual claiming to be from the IRS. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and to discontinue any contact with the person. She was also advised not to give out any personal information over the phone.

REPORT OF A LOST AND FOUND ITEM: City — reporting party stated that she had located a backpack behind her home. The item was collected and placed into lost and found.

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR ON A VACANT HOME: City — the home was checked and officers located a person inside who had permission to be at the residence.

REPORT OF A DOG PROBLEM: City — officer located two dogs that were running at large. The dogs were taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE CHILD ABUSE: Officer investigated the incident and reported that the child did have come unexplained bruising. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and contacted the operator. Officer reported that the person was sleeping in his car. The individual was advised to leave the area, due to he was on private property.

REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED: City — the area was patrolled, but no problems were located.

APRIL 26 

REPORT OF AN ALARM: The business was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was contacted and claimed to be okay.

REPORT OF FRAUD: City – the reporting party claimed to have received a report that someone was checking her credit card, but she didn’t have any activity of theft.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF HARASSING PHONE CALLS: City – the reporting party claimed to be getting numerous phone calls from an out-of-state number requesting her personal information.  A report was completed. REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT:City – Autumn Randall, of Ely, was backing from a parked position and struck a parked motorcycle.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: The reporting party claimed two juveniles were trespassing on a neighbor’s property.  Contact was made with the parents of the juveniles and they were advised of the situation.  A report will be forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed someone entered her home and stole her purse, including money and prescription medication.  Video surveillance was reviewed and the suspect was identified as 29 year old Samuel Jose Swafford, of Ely.  Swafford was located the next day and arrested without incident.

APRIL 27 

REPORT OF FRAUD: City – the reporting party claimed an unknown person attempted to use his debit card number without his permission.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: The reporting party said he returned home from being gone and found an unknown person had burgled his home.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: City – several properties were reported as having an accumulation of trash and refuse.  Contact to be made with the owners of the properties.

REPORT OF FRAUD: City – the reporting party discovered someone had been using his credit card information without his permission.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed a vehicle pulling a camper was parked in a vacant lot next to his home.  The operator was contacted and advised he could not camp in that location.  The subject left without incident.

REPORT OF CHILD ABUSE: The reporting party claimed her child had been abused by her ex-husband.  At the conclusion of the investigation, the abuse claim was unfounded.

APRIL 28 

REPORT OF FIREWORKS: City – when officers responded to the reported area, they made contact with 36 year old Ely resident Jason Michael Merlino.  Merlino was later arrested for discharging fireworks and disturbing the peace.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – while on patrol, a deputy made contact with a male subject identified as 45 year old Ely resident Stanley Hiram Craw.  The deputy observed Craw was holding a knife and later discovered a motor vehicle that had damage to the tires consistent with a knife.  Craw was later arrested for injury to property.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE SEXUAL ASSAULT: City – It was discovered that a female had possibly been sexually assaulted.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 29 year old Ely resident Richard Nicholas Berrocal was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City – the reporting party said someone left a note on her porch.  The incident was documented.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: The reporting party claimed a neighbor was harassing her.  It was discovered that there are issues between several neighbors nearby.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and was fine.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: The proprietor of a local bar claimed two patrons were causing problems.  When officers arrived, the two offenders had already left.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City – the reporting party claimed to be involved in an argument with her boyfriend over property.  The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT:Timothy Semas, of Ely, struck an antelope while driving on the highway.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – a male subject was reportedly creating a disturbance in a local restaurant.  Contact was made with the subject, who was later trespassed from the property.

REPORT OF A BUSINESS ALARM: City – the building was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City – the vehicle was gone when deputies arrived.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Both parties were contacted and they advised they had just been arguing.  They both separated for the night.

REPORT OF A FIGHT: City – when officers arrived, they discovered the fight was actually an argument between two brothers and the eating of a burrito.  The parties were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed a female was causing a problem involving her child, who was on a school bus.  The deputy met with both parties and the differences were resolved.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City – a child was deemed a habitual truant and was issued a citation.  A report was completed and will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed he had a passenger in his vehicle and somehow the passenger seat was damaged.  The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – a deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 48 year old McGill resident Veronica Mora.  Mora was later arrested for an outstanding warrant and other misdemeanor charges.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – a male subject was reportedly digging through several trash cans.  He was contacted and advised to stay out of the trash.

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: City – the reporting party claimed an unknown person had entered his house and stolen several items.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF FRAUD: The reporting party claimed to be involved in the purchase of a home online, but was concerned because the seller wouldn’t meet him in person.  The incident was documented.

REPORT OF ILLEGAL DUMPING: City – the manager of a local store advised a subject had been illegally dumping garbage into the commercial dumpster.  A citation will be issued to the suspect when located.

REPORT OF A STOLEN VEHICLE: City – the reporting party claimed an unknown subject stole a motorcycle from his property.  The investigation continues.
