The Nevada’s Unclaimed Property Division is opening the vault for a second time this year to auction items that remain unclaimed. This month’s will be the 4th auction to be hosted online by the Treasurer’s Office.

The auction, held through, will open Monday, May 7 at 9 a.m. PST and closes Wednesday, May 16 at 1 p.m. PST.

Items can be previewed online starting today. The items up for bid come from abandoned safe deposit boxes, the contents of which, after a three-year dormancy period, must be turned over to Nevada’s Unclaimed Property Division. Once delivered, the property is held for a minimum of one year, and a maximum of two years, and is advertised in newspapers around the state prior to being eligible for auction.“Our online auctions continue to break previous years’ auction records each and every time we conduct one,” said Grant Hewitt, Chief of Staff, for the State Treasurer’s Office. “May’s auction has 72 lots and I’m confident there is something for every type of collector.  You really never know what kind of treasures you may find to add to your collection.”

Once sold, Unclaimed Property continues to hold the value generated from each property for the original owner or their heirs until claimed.
