Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by the law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal agencies.

OCTOBER 1 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed an ex-boyfriend was banging on her door, refusing to leave.  Contact was made with the male, identified as 27 year old Ely resident Tayler Ingle.  After ignoring several warnings, Ingle was arrested for disturbing the peace.

REPORT OF A BATTERY: City – a student allegedly pushed a teacher after a disagreement.  The student was taken into custody and later transported to a juvenile detention facility.  A report will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: The reporting party claimed an acquaintance had assaulted her.  The alleged suspect had  previously made similar accusations against the reporting party.  The investigation continues.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The subjects were located and were fine.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City – the vehicle was located parked and unoccupied.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN: City – the reporting party claimed a black truck struck his mirror.  Deputies were unable to locate the black truck.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City – the reporting party claimed someone was tying to sell her minor child power tools.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF HARASSMENT: City – the reporting party claimed someone was yelling at her apartment, but she didn’t know what they were saying.  The incident was documented.

OCTOBER 2 

REPORT OF AN UNATTENDED DEATH: City – David Alexander passed away at his residence from natural causes.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party believed someone stole an OHV from his property.  It was later discovered to have been taken by a person with whom he had been in a relationship with and with whom he had purchased the OHV.  The incident was deemed civil.

REPORT OF A SUICIDAL SUBJECT: City – deputies attempted to locate the subject, but were unsuccessful.

OCTOBER 3

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: :City – the subject was checked and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF DRUGS: :City – several students at a local school were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.  A report was completed and forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: City – the owner of the residence could not be located.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City – the reporting party claimed someone stole tools from the back of his truck.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – Jacquelyn Bloom, of Ely, was northbound on Great Basin Blvd., when James Lee Brown, of Ely, failed to yield to stop at a stop sign, causing a collision with Bloom.  Brown was issued a citation for failure to yield.

REPORT OF A VAGRANT: City – a local business manager reported a vagrant had set up a tent in front of his business.  The male was contacted and moved along when asked.

OCTOBER 4  

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — officer responded to the business and reported that it was a false alarm.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: Officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle the operator was identified as Priscila A. Magana age 24 of Las Vegas. She was arrested for driving while license suspended.

REPORT OF TRUANCY x 2: Officer received a report of several children who were truant from school. The students were issued citations for truancy and a report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that she sold an item on line and received payment for it in the form of a check. The reporting party stated that the check was over the amount owed and the purchaser requested that she send the remaining money back to him. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and to discontinue any further transaction with the purchaser.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual causing a disturbance at a local business. Officer walked through the business and the person was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the mother and children were contacted and stated that they were fine.

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: Officer received a report of several children causing a disturbance on a school bus. Officer contacted the driver of the bus who stated that she had worked the problem out with the students.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — officer received a report of an alarm at a local business. The occupants of the building were contacted who had accidently activated the alarm.

REPORT OF A VEHICLE PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that individual’s driver their vehicles over the sidewalk to gain access to the roadway and her place of employment. She stated that this puts pedestrians in jeopardy to be struck by a car. Officer spoke to the manager of the business and discussed putting a barrier in place to prevent this activity.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck a bicyclist. Officer contacted the driver of the vehicle and a local juvenile who had been struck, who was transported to the E.R. by ambulance. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: Officer received a report of several juveniles walking around a local neighborhood with a pellet gun. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were jot located.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that she recently broke up with her boyfriend and wanted him removed from their home. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem and to follow the proper eviction process to have the boyfriend removed.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City — Eric Pickens a juvenile of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a vehicle behind him being operated by Oscar Ortiz of Ely. Pickens vehicle struck Ortiz vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

OCTOBER 5  

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of a vagrant sleeping in a local business. The manager of the business requested the person be removed. Officer contacted the person and requested he leave the business. He complied.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — the area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Kevin Bowen of AZ was operating a vehicle exiting a private drive. Rickey Overfield of ID was operating a vehicle and he too was exiting a private drive. As both vehicles entered onto Aultman Street they collided with each other. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Josh C. Fresquez age 30 of Ely was arrested for uttering a forged instrument. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Zachary G. Smith age 27 of Ely was arrested of an Ely Municipal Court warrant, Ely Justice Court warrant and on an Ely District Court warrant.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — officer located the vehicle and reported that no problems were observed.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an indidvual doing business without a license. Officer checked the area, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF A SEARCH AND RESCUE INCIDENT: Officer received a report of several hunters who were out hiking and when they attempted to return they were unable to locate their vehicle. The individuals were able to flag down some other hunters in the area who provided them transportation back their car.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the individual and reported that he was fine.

REPORT OF A LOST AND FOUND ITEM: City — reporting party located a box that had several tools in it laying in the roadway. The items were collected and placed into lost and found.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and advised her of the complaint. She was issued a warning.

OCTOBER 6  

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle the operator was identified as Bradley Davis age 39 of Star City, AZ. Davis was arrested for DUI, headlamps required, open container of alcohol in a vehicle, and no insurance.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that several people ordered food at a local restaurant then left the establishment without paying. Officers are attempting to identify the people involved.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: CITY — reporting party stated that he located a person sleeping inside one of his sheds. The individual was contacted and advised to leave the area. He complied.

REPORT OF A DOG BITE: Reporting party stated that he was making a delivery at a local residence when he was bitten by a dog. The reporting party received medical attention at the E.R. The owner of the dog was contacted and Ely Animal Control will follow up with the investigation.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: City — officer received a report of a large amount of trash that was located in a person’s yards. The person was contacted and advised to clean the trash up and haul it to the landfill.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Anthony Matyja age 24 of Ely was arrested on two Ely Municipal Court warrants and for injury to property. He is accused of damaging a gaming device at a local casino.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER: City — the vehicle was located which was parked and unoccupied.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: The individual was located and was fine.

REPORT OF A DOG PROBLEM: City — officer reported that the dog was captured and taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop the driver of the vehicle was identified as Adam Whitehurst age 46 of Ely. During the officers investigation he was arrested for DUI, possession of stolen property, operating an unregistered vehicle, no valid driver’s license, and no insurance.

REPORT OF AN INJURED DEER: Officer located the deer and reported that it appeared to be healthy enough to possibly survive. No action was taken.

REPORT OF AN OVERDUE HUNTER: The individual was located and he was fine.

OCTOBER 7  

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City — officer contacted several individuals who were having an argument over property. The parties involved were able to settle the matter between themselves.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that he was having problems with his landlord. Officer reported that the disagreement was over a deposit made on the rental. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER: City — officer located the vehicle which was parked and unoccupied.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: Officer contacted several individuals who were working on the building and had accidently set off the alarm.

REPORT OF A SEARCH AND RESCUE INCIDENT: Officer received a report of several overdue hunters. Officer reported while responding to the area he located the hunters driving back to Ely.

REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED: The area was patrolled, but no problems were located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Reporting party stated that an individual had come to her home and was asking her juvenile son questions she felt were inappropriate. The reporting party wanted the person trespassed from her property. The individual was contacted and advised.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer received a report of an indidvual who had threatened to harm himself. The individual and his family members were contacted and the situation was resolved.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: City — reporting party stated that a vehicle towing a boat had struck the awning at a local motel. Officers located the vehicle and contacted the operator who didn’t realize he had struck the awning. A report was completed.
