OCTOBER 27

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the subject had gotten into an argument at a local bar and broke the front window. The owner did not wish to pursue charges.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City – several juveniles were reportedly damaging property at a local park. They were located and admitted to said actions. The juveniles were released to their parents and a report will be forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:The reporting party claimed her husband had picked up a hitchhiker, and now she couldn’t contact him. She later made contact and said he had dropped off the hitchhiker. The hitchhiker was contacted and said she had been upset and started to walk.

REPORT OF AN ALARM:The building was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM:

City – the reporting party claimed several juveniles kept jumping out in front of traffic. The area was checked and no juveniles were located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed to have gotten into an argument with another subject. She claimed the other subject was intoxicated and driving. The area was checked, but the subject wasn’t located.

OCTOBER 28

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City – the building was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – a deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 50 year old Ely resident Troy Curtis Rowley. He was later arrested for DUI and driving with a suspended license.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed a male was in her home and wouldn’t leave. The male left prior to law enforcement arrival.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE:The reporting party claimed to have gotten into a fight with whom she is in a dating relationship. The other party wasn’t located until later in the night and he advised he didn’t want to report anything because they had only been arguing.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – a deputy made consensual contact with a male sitting in a parked, running vehicle, identified as 40 year old Ely resident Jose Arello-Llacza. He was later arrested for DUI.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE:The reporting party claimed a neighbor’s car door was open and no one was around. The vehicle was checked and appeared undamaged. The door was closed.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT:Misha Tarasoff, of British Colombia, claimed to have rear-ended a vehicle operated by Dennis Flack, of Ely. A report was completed.

REPORT OF THREATS: City – the reporting party claimed a female was sending her texts accusing her being in a relationship with the female’s boyfriend. The female was contacted and she said she wouldn’t text her anymore.

REPORT OF AN INTOXICATED DRIVER:The vehicle was located and the driver had not been drinking.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City – the subjects were contacted and said they weren’t fighting, but had been talking loudly.

OCTOBER 29

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the reporting party claimed to have had issues with a previous tenant in a building he owned. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was located and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF AN ALARM:The property was checked and was found secure.

REPORT OF THREATS: City – the reporting party claimed a juvenile made threats toward her daughter. The suspect was contact and she admitted to making the threats. A report was completed to be forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

OCTOBER 30

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City – the building was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – a male subject identified as 46 year old Ruth resident, Christopher Cory Cameron was causing a disturbance in a local business. He was trespassed from the property and he left. A short while later, a deputy observed him back at the property in a motor vehicle. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and later arrested Cameron for trespassing and DUI.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE:City – deputies made contact with both parties, whom had already separated. Both claimed to have been battered, but there were no signs of injury on either subject.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT:A vehicle was found abandoned off the side of a rural roadway which appeared to have been involved in an accident. The vehicle was towed.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY:A student was deemed a habitual truant and will be issued a citation. A report will be forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

OCTOBER 31

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — officer received a report of an alarm at a local business. The business was checked and no problems were located.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALLS: City — reporting party stated that she is received unwanted telephone calls and text messages. The reporting party was advised to block the numbers. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Tony Buckner of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on Great Basin Blvd. A deer entered into the roadway striking his vehicle. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ILLEGALLY PARKED VEHICLE: City — officer received a report of an unregistered vehicle parked on the roadway. The owner was contacted and advised to remove it from the street.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that he had some friends over to his home and he believes that one of them stole his phone. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of a student at a local school who was having a medical problem. Officer assisted until Ely ambulance arrived and transported the student to the E.R.

REPORT OF A CITIZEN ASSIST: City — officer received a report of an individual traveling through the Ely area that needed assistance. The individual was advised on how to obtain the assistance needed.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and reported that a tire had fallen off the vehicle while it was being operated. The operator of the vehicle was able to place another tire onto the vehicle and remove it from the scene.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER:The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — the area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer assisted staff at the Care Center with a resident that was being uncooperative. Officer reported that the situation was resolved.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle had left the area before officers arrived.

REPORT OF A HORSE PROBLEM City — reporting party stated that several people were riding horses through his parking lot and the horses deposited their manure in his lot. The owners of the horses said they would return and clean it up.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE City — the dog was captured and taken to the Dog Pound.

REPORT OF AN ARREST City — officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle the operator was identified as Jared G. Azar age 24 of Shenandoah, PA. Azar was arrested for impeding traffic and driving on a revoked license.

NOVEMBER 1

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — officers received a report of a business alarm at a local business. The building was checked and no problems were located.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that his ex-wife had gained access to some of him internet accounts by stealing his passwords. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that a student had removed a coat from a local school and the school wanted the coat back. Officer made contact with the student and the student’s parent and the coat was retuned.

REPORT OF PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an individual who was causing a disturbance at a local school. School officials wanted the incident documented in case of further problems. A report was completed.

REPORT OF MISSING GUNS: Reporting party stated that she is missing several guns from her home. The reporting party wanted to search her home again for the guns before completing a report with law enforcement. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: City — officer received a report of a large amount of trash accumulated in the back of a truck. The trash was blowing out of the vehicle. Officer contacted the owner of the truck and advised her to take the trash to the landfill.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle the driver was identified as Emma M. Paez age 33 of Ely Paez was arrested for use of a controlled substance, under the influence of a controlled substance, DUI and probation violation. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Russell L. Bainbridge age 28 of Ely. He was arrested on a probation violation.

REPORT OF UNWANTED TEXT MESSAGES: City — reporting party stated that she received a text message from a person she doesn’t want contact with. She was advised to block the caller’s number or to obtain a new phone number.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the mother and daughter who had engaged in a verbal argument over candy. The daughter was advised to follow the mother’s rules.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that his wife took their car and won’t return it. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem due to they are married and both own the car.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that he received a charge on his credit card that was from a motel in the Ely area. The reporting party stated that he didn’t stay at the motel. Investigation into the incident continues.

NOVEMBER 2

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that he seen a flashlight being shined on the side of a home. The area was checked and no problems were located.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Jeff Bell of Ely was operating his vehicle traveling on Duck Creek Road. An elk entered into the roadway and struck his vehicle. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A FOUND WALLET: City — the owner was contacted and the wallet was returned.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: Officer received a report of an indidvual asking questions about school children. Officer contacted the person who was traveling through the area. No problems were located.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that she received a phone call and the caller was advising her that she was in trouble due to the vehicle she owned was used to transport drugs. The caller wanted to know how much money she had in her checking account to take care of the problem. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and to discontinue any contact with the caller.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTL City — officer received a report of an indidvual living in a camp trailer on a city lot. Officer served an order on the individual from the City of Ely to have the person removed from the trailer.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the person who stated that he was fine and needed no assistance.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the person and reported that she needed medical assistance. The individual was taken to the E.R. by ambulance.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Sean M. Scott age 45 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the parties involved who stated that no problems had occurred. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF A FIRE: Officer reported that the person was burning leaves. The individual put the fire out.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of several people going through garbage. The area was patrolled, but they were not located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she loaned her vehicle to an individual and the person has not yet returned it. Officer reported that the vehicle is registered and titled in both the parties’ names that are disputing over the vehicles ownership. The incident was documented.

NOVEMBER 3, 2018

REPORT OF A DEATH: City — officer reported that Mary Sue Johnson age 85 of Ely died at her residence of natural causes.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that serval juveniles entered into a local store and stole some alcohol. The juveniles and their parents were contacted and a report will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A STOLEN VEHICLE” Reporting party stated that his vehicle had been stolen from his driveway. Officer investigated the incident and reported that the vehicle had been repossessed due to the reporting party was behind on his payments.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT” City— reporting party stated that a local garage was refusing to give him his vehicle back after they had worked on it. The reporting party was advised to contact the garage and obtain the vehicle and to pay for the service performed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during a traffic stop on a vehicle the operator was identified as Cari L. Matyja age 59 of Ely. During the offices investigation Matyja was arrested for failure to maintain lane of travel, duties of driver when approaching a traffic incident and DUI.

NOVEMBER 5

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City — officer contacted the parties involved who had exchanged vehicle information and requested no report be completed.

REPORT OF CHILD ABUSE: City — officer received a report of a child that had possible been abused by a family member. The stepmother and child were interviewed and the investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A CITIZEN ASSIST: City — officer assisted an individual who was having problems closing his account at a local bank. Officer contacted the bank officials and the situation was resolved.

REPORT OF A MISSING PERSON: Reporting party stated that her brother went to Reno to receive medical assiatcne several months ago. Since then no one has been able to contact him. The brother was entered as a missing person.

REPORT OF A PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT: City — Mary Ford of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. Keegan Blakeley of McGill was operating a vehicle and was backing up. Both parties involved stated that they didn’t see each other while they were backing their vehicles up. The vehicles collided with each other causing damage. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC BATTERY: Officer received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. Officer contacted the parties involved and during his investigation arrested Emily Guidry age 35 of Ely for domestic battery. Guidry is accused of battering a person whom she has a child in common with.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an indidvual who was threatening to harm herself. Officer contacted the individual along with family members and discussed obtaining mental health treatment for the person involved.
