MARCH 5 

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City – the subject left when deputies arrived.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: City – the home owner was contacted and given ten days to clean their yard.

REPORT OF A SHOPLIFTER: City – the manager of the store was contacted and signed a citizen’s complaint for petit larceny, which was served on the suspect, who was attempting to steal merchandise without paying.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City – 38 year old Oregon resident Tiesha Marie Tognoni was arrested for an outstanding warrant.  She was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, and was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – Daniel Williams, of Ely, backed into a parked car.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The vehicle was located and the driver was warned about their driving.

REPORT OF FRAUD: City – the reporting party claimed to have received a fraudulent check in the mail.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: 28 year old Arizona resident Amos Shawn Shorthair was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: The parties were contacted and claimed to have only been arguing.  They were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City – 67 year old Thomas Hays, of Ely, stopped his vehicle to check on an engine problem, and the vehicle rolled and struck a parked vehicle.  A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City – a car alarm was reportedly active.  The area was checked, but the suspect wasn’t located.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City – the subject was contacted and claimed to be fine.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City- the building was checked and was secure.

MARCH 7 

REPORT OF A DEATH: Officer reported that Margaret Gardner of Lund died at her residence of natural causes.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: Officer received a report of a flashing red light a top of a stop sign that had been damaged. Officer reported that the light had been shot out. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE Officer received a report of several disabled vehicles parked on a roadway and several that were being stored on a vacant lot. The owner of the vehicles and property was contacted and advised of the complaint. He was served a notice to have the vehicles removed.

REPORT OF CHILD ABUSE: City — officer received a report of several children that were not being cared for properly. Officer investigated the incident and reported that Christopher Tedesco age 39 of Ely was arrested for child neglect. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF FRAUD: Reporting party stated that someone had gained access to his debit card number and had made several unauthorized purchase. The reporting party had notified his banking establishment and a police report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ABANDONED VEHICLE: Officer located the vehicle and reported that no problems were reported.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party located some items of drug paraphernalia inside a restroom at her place of employment. The items were collected and destroyed.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the person and reported that she was fine. The individual requested no assiatcne.

REPORT OF A NOISE DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who denied that they had caused any disturbance. They were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Sean M.  Gruda age 33 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved separated for the night.

MARCH 8

REPORT OF BUILDING CHECK: Officer performed a building check on a vacant home. Officer reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF SEVERAL INJURED HORSES: Officer received a report of several horses that had been struck by a vehicle. The report was given to the State of Nevada Brand Inspector.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that he is moving out of his rental home and that the Land Lord changed the locks and locked him out. The Land Lord was contacted and advised to let the reporting party have access to his property.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer reported that when he arrived the person had left the area and was not located.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City — reporting party stated that a vehicle pulled up to a gas pump and that the driver got out and removed the panel off the pump. The driver then left the area. Officer inspected the pump and believes that a card scanner had been placed on the pump. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Brooke Osburn of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. She failed to see a vehicle that was parked and unoccupied behind her. Osburn’s vehicle struck the parked vehicle belonging to Edison Dale of Tuba City, AZ. An accident report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Matthew T. Welty age 31 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Officer checked on the vehicle and reported no problems were located.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the person and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A VIOLATION OF A COURT ORDER: City — reporting party stated that he believes that a court order he has in place reference child custody has been violated. The order was reviewed and the incident was documented.

REPORT OF A MISSING JUVENILE: City — reporting party stated that her juvenile daughter left their home and hadn’t retuned. The daughter was located and retuned home. A report will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF AN ALARM:City — officer checked the area and no problems were located.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Earl L. Jones, age 67 of Ely was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved separated for the night.

REPORT OF A MOTORCYCLE DISTURBANCE: The area was patrolled, but the motorcycle was not located.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and advised her to secure the bale of hay that she was transporting.

REPORT OF A MOTORCYCLE DISTURBANCE: The area was patrolled, but the motorcycle was not located.

REPORT OF A MOTORCYCLE DISTURBANCE: Officer located the motorcycle and spoke to the juvenile operator and her parents. They were advised no to ride the motorcycle on the roadway.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Timothy J. Ball age 51 of Ely was arrested for failure to maintain lane of travel and DUI.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer contacted the person and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that during follow up on an investigation an individual identified as Kyri A. McMillan age 32 of Jerome, ID was arrested on a Carson City Justice Court warrant.

MARCH 10

REPORT OF A BURGLARY: City — officer received a report of serval vehicles that had been burglarized in the Ely area. During their investigation a suspect was identified in the thefts. Officer reported that the individual was identified as Ty D. Helfrich age 20 of Ely. Helfrich was arrested for petit larceny, burglary, possession of methamphetamine and use of a controlled substance. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Lacey Kolb age 37 of Hunnington, OR was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officers are attempting to locate the person to check her welfare.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Trey Lister of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on County Road 27. Due to icy road conditions the vehicle he was operating slid off the roadway and struck a cattle guard. An accident report was completed.

MARCH 11  

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the parties involved who had been arguing over a social media account. The parties involved agreed to separate for the day.

REPORT OF A PARKING PROBLEM: Officer received a report of a vehicle that was blocking a driveway. When the officer arrived the vehicle had left the scene.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City— the individual was located and she was fine.

REPORT OF A TRUANCY: City — officer received a report of a juvenile that was truant from school. The juvenile was issued a citation for truancy and a report will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — officer contacted the driver’s employer and advised him of the complaint.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: Officer checked the home and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT: City — reporting party stated that his vehicle was parked and unattended on a public street. During that time it was struck by another vehicle. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City — officer contacted the person and advised him that he was on private property and he needed to leave. The individual complied.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE CHILD ABUSE: City — officer received a report of a child who had a suspicious bruise on her body. Officer investigated the incident and reported that the bruise had come from a fall. The child abuse was unfounded.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM: City — officer received a report of a juvenile who had brought a pellet gun to school. School Officials had confiscated the gun and detained the juvenile. The juvenile was interviewed and his guardian notified. A report was completed and sent to Juvenile Probation.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — the area was patrolled, but the person was not located.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Heidi M. Breitrick age 40 of Ely was arrested for possession of stolen property. Breitrick was identified as a suspect in a previous case where a four wheel had been stolen from a local business.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved and reported that they had engaged in a verbal argument over child visitations. The parties involved separated for the night.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT: City — officer located the person and reported that no problems were located.

REPORT OF BARKING DOGS: City — officer contacted the owners of the dogs and advised them of the complaint.
