The Ely Times

A tisket a tasket how can you fill your Easter egg basket? Hop on over to one of the Easter Egg hunts being held in McGill, Ely or Ruth.

They will all be held simultaneously again this year beginning at 11 a.m.

Where did Easter egg hunt originate from? According to various sources, the Easter Bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase”

Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs.

Egg hunts will be categorized by age group. Here are several hunts that are free to the public.

• Ely , Veterans Park off of Aultman Street,

• McGill, Avenue K

• Ruth, the Community Park in Ruth.

All events are free to the public.  Happy egg-hunting.
