The White Pine Bobcats, defending 2A boys and girls state track and field champions, won their own White Pine Invitational meet April 26 in Ely. 

The Bobcat boys earned 174½ points to 154 for second place Spring Mountain. The Ladycats earned 235 points.

White Pine’s Phoenix Ball won the long jump and was third in the 100 meters. Eric Vinson took second in the 200 meters. Kincade Waggener was second in the 3200 meters. Adam Theurer won the 300m hurdles, second in the 110m hurdles, and second in the pole vault. Kevin Hexem was second in the discus. 

Ball, Theurer and David Nicholes swept the high jump and the Bobcats won both the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.

For the girls, Madison Rick, Zoie Adams and Sidney Hansen swept the 100 meters. Hansen and Adams ran 1-2 in the 400 meters, Morgan Hendrickson won the 800 meters. Whitney Prengel, Olivia Hendrix and Madison Hendrickson swept both the 100 and 300m hurdles event.

Olivia Hendrix and Madison Rick were 1-2 in the high jump.

This Saturday, May 4, White Pine takes part in the Grant Bushman Invitational at Moapa Valley High School with 21 teams expected to compete. The meet usually serves as a tune-up for the NIAA Southern Regional meet May 10-11 also to be held at Moapa Valley High.
