AUGUST 12, 2019

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: City — the vehicle was located and no problems were reported.

REPORT OF A DOG PROBLEM: City — officer received a report of several dogs that were fighting. Officer observed the dogs and they had obtained injuries during the fight. Animal Control Officer assisted and the dogs were removed from the residence and taken to get medical treatment. The owner of the dogs was not at home.

REPORT OF A BAD CHECK: City — reporting party stated that she had received a check from her renter for rent and that she was unable to cash it, due to the bank advising her that the check was bad. The reporting party advised that she was evicting the renter. The incident was documented.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: City — Gerald Johnson was operating a vehicle traveling on East Aultman Street. James Parry was operating a vehicle traveling North on 15th Street. Perry attempted to enter onto East Aultman Street and failed to yield to Johnson causing an accident. Perry was issued a citation for obedience to a traffic control device.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: City— officer received a report of an individual having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. The area was patrolled and the vehicle was located parked and unoccupied.

REPORT OF THREATS: Reporting party stated that an individual has made serval threats to harm him. Officer is attempting to locate the person who is making the threats.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Tommie J. Birdon III age 30 of McGill was arrested for driving suspended and on a warrant for contempt of court.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A LOST HUNTER: Reporting party stated that her husband is hunting in the Ely area, but she hasn’t heard from him for approximately a week. Search and Rescue was called out and are actively searching for the individual.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the person and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF A FOUND ITEM: City — officer reported that the found debit card was returned to the owner.

REPORT OF A FOUND ITEM: City — reporting party found a driver’s license. The license was placed into lost and found.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that she had quite her employment and wanted to return her key to the owner. The owner was demanding other items from her. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem and to return the key and disregard the other requests.

REPORT OF STUCK MOTORIST: Officer received a report of a vehicle that had become stuck in a ditch. Officer assisted the operator by jacking up the vehicle to remove it from the ditch. The officer was able to successfully get the vehicle unstuck.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that an ex-employee was harassing her, wanting her last pay check. The reporting party was advised to notify the person when the check would be ready and to contact the Sheriff’s Office if there were further problems.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that she recently broke up with her girlfriend and that her girlfriend wouldn’t give her, her phone back. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem due to the phone being bought while they were together.

REPORT OF A CHILD CUSTODY PROBLEM: City — officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over child custody. They were advised to go through the proper court hearings to obtain a custody order.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DISTURBANCE: Reporting party stated that he observed a large group of people gathering in an area. Officer patrolled the area, but no problems were located.

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City— officer contacted several juveniles who were playing in the area. They were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the individuals and reported that they were fine. No assistance was requested.

REPORT OF AN INJURY ACCIDENT: The report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: Reporting party stated that she recently broke up with her boyfriend and wanted him to remove his property. The boyfriend was advised.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: Officer contacted the person and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUSIANCE: Officer contacted the occupant of the home and advised her to remove the debris.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Tyler Jackson was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a culvert and ditch behind him and drove his truck into a ditch. Jackson left the area with the vehicle blocking traffic. The vehicle was towed from the area. He was later located and issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that her landlord had tried to enter into her home uninvited. The landlord was contacted who stated that he had been contacted by the tenant about a water leak and he was trying to make contact with her. He was advised to make contact with the renter before entering the home.

REPORT OF A VIOLATION OF A COURT ORDER: City — officer investigated the incident and reported that no violation had occurred.

REPORT OF A THEFT: City — reporting party stated that his checkbook had been stolen while he was at a local casino. Investigation into the theft continues.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: Officer contacted the owner of the dog and advised her to keep it contained.

REPORT OF A DEAD ANIMAL IN THE ROADWAY: City — the cat was removed and disposed of.

REPORT OF AN ALARM: City — false alarm.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Officer contacted the individual and advised her to turn her music down and to remove her vehicle which was parked in an alleyway blocking traffic.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: City — officer reported that the individuals involved had left the area before they arrived.

REPORT OF A BARKING DOG: City — officer contacted the owner of the dog and advised her of the complaint. She was issued a warning for barking dog.

REPORT OF A FIRE: City — officer located an unattended fire. The fire department was contacted who extinguished the fire.

REPORT OF A PROWLER: City— officer patrolled the area and checked several homes. Nothing was located.

REPORT OF AN INTOXICATED PEDESTRIAN: City —officer located several intoxicated people walking in the roadway. They were provided assistance to their home.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in an argument about ATV use on a roadway. They parties involved were advised to stay away from each other.

REPORT OF AN ARREST: City — officer reported that Travis Morrison age 23 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — the dog was taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF A CIVIL PROBLEM: City — reporting party stated that he sold his vehicle to an individual. The reporting party didn’t remove his license plates from the vehicle when he sold it. The buyer of the vehicle was to return the plates, but hasn’t. Officer reported that no action was taken.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — the area was patrolled, but the dogs were not located.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER: City — the vehicle was located parked and unoccupied.

REPORT OF AN INJURED PERSON: Reporting party stated that she had been pushed down by an individual which caused her to be injured. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER: City — officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and reported that he was not intoxicated. No other problems were reported.

REPORT OF A PROWLER: City — officer located the person who was staying at a friend’s home. The friend was contacted and took the person inside the residence.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — the dog was taken to the Ely Dog Pound.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — reporting party stated that he was having a problem with a family member that won’t leave his home. The parties involved were contacted and the situation was resolved.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A FIRE: City — officers secured the area and the fire was put out by the Fire Department.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE: City — reporting party stated renters had recently moved out of the room they had rented. When management went into clean the room they observed a lot of damage. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE: Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved were encouraged to separate for the night.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: City — the area was patrolled, but the dog was not located.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT / ARREST: Officer received a report of a vehicle accident. Officer reported that Marie A. Jardine age 53 of Cherry Creek was operating a vehicle traveling on 4th Street in McGill. She failed to maintain her lane of travel and struck another vehicle. Jardine was arrested for DUI and failure to operate her vehicle on the right side of the roadway.

REPORT OF A DEATH: Officer report that Jack L. Bennett age 82 of Ely died at his residence of natural causes.

AUGUST 19, 2019

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR: City — officer reported while patrolling the Ely area he located a car door that was open on a vehicle. The vehicle was checked and secured.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE: Officer received a report of a residence that had a large amount of garage accumulated in the yard. Officer attempted to make contact with the occupant of the home, but they would not answers the door. Officer will attempt contact at a later date.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: Reporting party stated that someone has been entering onto his hayfield in a vehicle and damaging his crop. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN UNATTENDED CHILD: City — officer received a report of a child that was left inside a vehicle unattended. Officer contacted the parent of the child and advised her not to leave the child unattended.

REPORT OF A FRAUD: City — reporting party stated that an individual had fraudulently used his debit card. Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF MISSING CHILDREN: City — reporting party stated that his children were playing in the front yard and he was inside his home. He stated that he came out to check on them and they were not there. The area was searched and the children were located and returned to their parent.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: Officer received a report of a dog that was running at large. Officer reported that the owner of the dog was issued a citation for dog at large.

REPORT OF A THEFT: Reporting party stated that several vehicles and some equipment had been stolen from her ranch. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER: City — reporting party stated that an individual driving a truck had allowed his vehicle to blow excessive exhaust smoke. The parties involved had engaged in a verbal argument over the situation. Contact will be made with the operator of the vehicle.

REPORT OF A DISTURBANCE: City — officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over property. The parties involved were advised to keep the peace.
