Elizabeth McKinnon Lacy, 83, of Ely, Nevada passed away on September 4, 2019 in Ely.  Betsy was born April 7, 1936 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to parents John and Elizabeth Hall McKinnon.

Betsy grew up in Red Springs, North Carolina and attended Peace College in Raleigh, North Carolina and University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, graduating with a degree in accounting.  Betsy married James Barnes Lacy on October 17, 1959 in Durham, Nevada.  They originally met in Niagara Falls, New York in the early 1950’s and again in 1958 at the University of North Carolina.  Betsy and Jim traveled and camped throughout the United States and Canada, including 45 of the 50 states and eight Canadian provinces. Betsy started knitting at age five and was a dedicated dog trainer.  Betsy and Jim made their home in Ely since 2005.

Betsy is survived by her husband, Jim, of 59 years and son James Barnes Lacy, Jr. (Sonja) of Las Vegas.  She is preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m.   A luncheon will follow at the Undercroft of St. Bartholomew Church.  All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Betsy’s memory to St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 151585, El, NV 89315 or the American Cancer Society.  Betsy was a 19-year survivor of cancer.
