Ronald James Hardcasthle was born to James Richard Hardcastle and Wenona Ruth Peeble in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from High School in Brighton, Colorado in 1967. He immediately joined the United State Army, and spent one tour of duty in Vietnam. After finishing his military service he joined his parents in Ely, Nevada. He attended community college in Winnemucca, Nevada, then transferred to Ely, Nevada.

He then drove a semi-truck cross country for several years, and finally settled into driving a school bus for the Ely School District until retirement. He went hunting and fishing regularly, and shared his love for fishing and hiking with his grand nieces from California, creating a special bond with them. His other favorite place to be was the Veterans of Foreign Wars and faithfully attended.

Ron became a Christina in 1958. He has demonstrated a great love for helping in Sunday School at Grace Baptist Church, being a faithful member until he developed medical conditions requiring specialized care through the Veterans’ Administration. His last years were spend in a skilled nursing facility in Sandy, Utah, where he received excellent care.

He was preceded in death by this father, James, and his mother, Wenona,. His surviving siblings are Ronda Ann Stringer and Donald Mark Hardcastle. His nephews are Andrew Paul Stringer (wife Tanya) and Stephen Michael Stringer (wife Joy). He also has 6 grand nieces and 1 grandnephew.

Funeral arrangements were conducted by Serenity Mortuary in Utah and Mt. Vista Funeral Home in Ely, with Pastor Tim Parish of Grace Baptist Church presiding. He will be buried in Ely cemetery with military honors.
