Small Businesses in Nevada make up 99% of the overall economy. That statistic also rings true right here in White Pine County. Celebrating our local small businesses, kicking off the Holiday gift buying season with approximately 16 weeks before Christmas, and to show support of our neighbors, friends, and the hardworking retailers, restaurants and service providers that take care of all of us year-round, the White Pine Chamber of Commerce is helping promote a COUNTY-WIDE SUPER SALE on September 11th and 12th.
In anticipation of the big two-day shopping small super spree, Chamber Member Businesses are getting discounts on advertising through our local news outlets! The Ely Times, The Bristlecone Tribune, and KELY 98.5 are all offering special rates for ads, just for chamber members. The Chamber itself is offering specials, selling items on these two days as well as opening their office to any and all cottage-businesses that need a brick and mortar to sell their wares.

From Downtown to Central and East Ely, to Baker, to Lund, to McGill, locals that have been shopping online or traveling out of town to do their shopping need to target their local businesses and see what they’re missing. “Get off Amazon and Get on Aultman. Get offline and get into local, says Chamber CEO Shadrach Robertson. “Everything you need is right here and in reach.” Robertson, who has been leading Shop Small Seasons each year through the Chamber’s advocacy of small businesses, says it is more critical than ever to support local. “If we don’t use them, we will lose them.”
If it’s Saturday it should be a small shop Saturday! Every time you are looking to buy items from an online retailer, especially billion-dollar companies that import those goods from abroad, locals should learn to look at the options right here at home. On September 11th and 12th, businesses all around White Pine are giving locals reasons to explore what’s here. Go shopping and gain a new appreciation of everything our business owners are doing to enhance the quality of life in our communities.
The Chamber is amassing a long list of Participating Chamber Member Businesses offering Sales, Promos, Bogo’s, discounts, and specials, including: Economy Drug & Soda Fountain, East Ely Smoke & Vape, Nancy Reidell Art Gallery, the Ely Art Bank, Extraordinary Things Boutique, This & That, as well as the Nevada Northern Railway! Expanding on the sale, Desert Rose Ceramics & Crafts will host Food trucks, like Ely Crepe Escape, Indo Bowl, Dos Viejas, and the Corndog Company in their parking lot!
Even insurance agents like Tiffany Swetich State Farm are offering Free swag and free quotes on insurance. Stop by Ms. Squaw Indian Jewelry and Native Crafts, inside the Prospector Hotel, to discover exquisite handmade accessories, art, and decor. Extending the sales, savings and discounts even wider, are the businesses in McGill and Baker.

Building a strong local economy takes everyone investing in what we have, supporting the ones making sacrifices and serving their communities by participating in the process of preserving the quality of life we all enjoy. In a remote and interconnected ecosystem, this only works if we find ways to collaborate. Using local services first: from the local printer to the local laundromat, to the eye doctor, dentists, to the local pharmacist, from our downtown clothing shop to the small grocery store that might be a little out of the way, to the businesses that are all striving to meet the needs of our community. For all of the best businesses, find what you’re looking for on the Chamber’s Business Directory online or in our printed community guide.
Shop Small. Shop Local. Shop Often.
