The Nevada Department of Transportation is inviting public feedback on an update to its State Management Plan, which establishes administrative policies for federal transit funding across rural Nevada.
Nevada’s rural transit operators deliver well over 500,000 trips each year, connecting residents to critical destinations such as healthcare, employment, education, shopping and public services. Using Federal Transit Administration funds, NDOT supports public, tribal and private passenger transit agencies serving general travelers, older adults, individuals with disabilities and veterans throughout rural communities.
The State Management Plan outlines the specific objectives and administrative policies governing federal transit dollars, undergoing periodic updates to maintain compliance with federal regulations and program guidelines. State officials emphasize that public input helps ensure grant funds are effectively distributed where they are needed most.
“Rural transportation services help our fellow Nevadans access employment, healthcare, shopping, education, public services and recreation,” NDOT Transit Manager Laurel Brock-Kline said. “Public and stakeholder input on this plan will help ensure that together we meet the transit needs of Nevada’s rural communities.”
Members of the public can review the draft document online at dot.nv.gov by navigating to the “Transit Plans” section under the “Mobility” tab. NDOT is accepting public comments specifically focused on fund administration through Sept. 30, 2026. Feedback can be submitted via email to [email protected] or by phone at (775) 888-7215.
